Learn To Cross Country Ski
The Club's History
Hilltoppers XC was founded in 2002 as a youth development branch of the Ohio Nordic Ski Club. We have focused on teaching kids how to cross-country ski through weekly skill sessions at Chapin Forest and through attending regional Nordic ski races. In 2011, we were invited to send skiers to the International Children’s Games in Kelowna, BC, Canada, an exciting opportunity for our young skiers to meet youth from all over the world. Hilltoppers have been fortunate to participate in the 2013 games in Ufa, Russia, the 2016 games in Vienna, Austria most recently in the 2019 games in Lake Placid, New York.
While the Ohio Nordic Ski Club has faded away, Hilltoppers XC remains strong. The Club is managed and coached by adult volunteers who love cross-country skiing. All of our coaches have had their own children participate in the club. Our goal is to introduce the sport of cross-country skiing to children ages 4-18. We encourage participation in local Nordic races and provide opportunities for our members to enjoy a few hours out of doors during our cold, gray winters. We welcome and encourage parental involvement in our ski lessons and are happy to teach the whole family to ski.
We are hoping that Mother Nature will deliver a great snow season this year. We hope you will join us!
